The Honest Trade-Off

GuestCam has a real feature we don't — here's the trade-off.

GuestCam ships MagicFind, a paid AI selfie-matching add-on ($45/event) that lets a guest take a selfie and instantly find every photo they appear in, including professional photographer shots. It also bundles an audio guestbook — web and dial-in phone — into every plan at no extra cost. GuestDrop doesn't have either of these today; face-matching is on our roadmap (AI-01), not yet shipped.

In exchange, GuestDrop routes every guest upload directly into the event creator's own Google Drive account instead of a vendor-hosted private gallery, and includes an Apple Photos-style masonry gallery with storage that never expires — no counting down a 12-to-14-month upload-and-storage window tied to your event date. If AI face-search or a bundled audio guestbook matters most to you, GuestCam's add-on delivers that today. If keeping every original in storage you already own, with no expiry clock, matters more, that's what GuestDrop is built around.

GuestDrop vs GuestCam FAQ

Common questions about switching from GuestCam.

Does GuestDrop have an AI face-matching feature like GuestCam’s MagicFind?

Not yet. GuestCam’s MagicFind is a real, shipping paid add-on ($45/event) that lets guests take a selfie and instantly find every photo they appear in. GuestDrop has face-matching on our backlog (AI-01) but doesn’t offer it today — instead, guests and creators browse a full Apple Photos-style gallery included at no extra step.

Where do my photos get stored with GuestCam vs. GuestDrop?

GuestCam collects every guest photo and video into one private gallery hosted on its own servers. GuestDrop routes every upload straight into the event creator’s own Google Drive account, so you hold the originals in storage you already control.

Does GuestCam charge a subscription?

No — GuestCam is explicit that it has "No Subscriptions": Standard is $49 and Premium is $97, both one-time per event, matching GuestDrop’s one-time pricing model. GuestCam does sell optional paid add-ons on top, like MagicFind ($45/event) and a dedicated audio-guestbook phone number ($30/event, US/Canada only).

Do GuestCam’s photos and videos expire?

Yes. GuestCam’s Standard plan gives a 6-month upload window and 12-month storage; Premium extends that to a 12-month upload window and 14-month storage — both counted from the event date. GuestDrop’s free storage does not expire.
